Calamnius-sukuseura ry - Släktföreningen Calamnius r.f was founded in Kokkola and Kalajoki 15. - 16.7.1950. The son of the farmer and the local Police Chief Mikko Matinpoika, Pekka Mikonpoika, became the vicar of Kalajoki, where he died in 1647. He used the name Petrus Michaelis and the surname Arctophilacius. In Kalajoki he was the owner of the Siipola farm.

Petrus Michaelis married Magdalena Östendaughter Sursill. They had two sons, who both became vicars: Gabriel Kalajokius, who died as the vicar of Keminmaa in 1648, and Karl Kalling, who died as the vicar of Kalajoki in 1672. Gabriel, the son of Kalajokius started to use the name Calamnius, he is named the ancestor of all known descendants with the name Calamnius. He died as the vicar of Ii in 1673.

The elder son of Karl Kalling, the Secretary of the Swedish High Court Peter (later Pehr), got a nobel rank in 1698 by the name Kalling. His descendants who later became counts, live in Sweden and in the USA. The younger son, Karl Karlsson Kalling, vicar in Kalajoki, died in 1697. His son Per alias Pietari Kalling, the owner of the Siipola farm, was also employed in the Kalajoki church. His sonson's son Juho Pekka used the surname Siipola. He is considered the ancestor of the Siipola branch of the family. His younger brother Kaarle Kustaa Kalle Juhonpoika Kalling-Rajaniemi is the ancestor of the Rajaniemi branch of the family. He died in Kähtävä in 1852.

Petrus Arctophilacius and Magdalena Sursill also had four daughters.

Margaretha married the vicar of Keminmaa Johan Pictorius. Her granddaughter married Erik Tawast later introduced into the house of nobles under the name of Tawaststjerna. The Tawaststjerna family still live in Finland.
Susanna married the vicar of Kalajoki Josef Mathesius, they had several children.
in 1643 Beata married the judge of the high court in Turku, Olof Samuelsson (1611-1687). He was introduced into the house of nobles in 1678 with the name Wallenstierna and buried in the church of Turku. Their dauhgter Christina Wallenstierna married Erik Falander who was rised to the nobility under the name Tigerstedt. Descendants of Beata and Olof Wallenstierna can be found in Sweden by the name Liliencrantz.
Sara married the Police Chief of Kalajoki Olof Laurila, their sons took the name Lauraeus.
